We currently have a machine that acts as a firewall and has a quad card installed. The problem is, is that when the server reboots the settings on the quad card are lost. We've set them up using ifconfig in the normal way, but they just disappear on reboot. Anybody had this problem or know of a fix or something we need to do?
Thanks

Ifconfig is used to set up interfaces only for your running sesion. When u reboot the box the settings are lost. In order to have all your interfaces configured during boot up you have to set up the /etc/hosts file and create the corresponding qfe files
e.g. /etc/hostname.qfe1
If you have set up qfe1 in you host files kind like this:
10.0.0.11 hostx-qfe1
....

then u should add this entry in /etc/hostname.qfe1
hostx-qfe1

Same stands for the rest of the interfaces.
And you can have all your interfaces up and running -:)

Thanks the hostname.qfex files were missing from /etc. Now all working ok. Thanks again CS
