Our accounting department ran a quarter-end report and finds that the Balance Sheet (Assets vs Liabilities + Equity) is slightly out of balance. Apparently this happened once before and was resolved by Sage Support, but we're no longer on support (we have an older version of the software - 3.31 I believe).

The accountant thinks the problem was some sort of data corruption last time. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

There are two files that effect this situation, GL5 (transaction detail) and GL8 (period "buckets"). It is helpful to determine if both are corrupted or just one. Trying running the "General Ledger Detail report by DATE for the entire fiscal year; on this report (by date only) the beginning balances will be from the GL8 and the detail will be from the GL5. Analyzing this data will help indicate which files are corrupted. If both are equally corrupted make a one sided entry as suggested above. Else it gets trickery.

Good luck Damien.
