I have an AS400 that has a scheduled job run regularly but it was set up by somebody who has long since left and I have no information on what it does.

It calls a QSYS program called QSECIDL2.
How can I find out what it does?

I have searched the Iseries library but can't find anything on it. Is there a way on the AS400 to find descriptions of IBM supplied QSYS programs?

You can use the DSPPGM command to determine where the
source code for this program was at the time it was
compiled (hopefully it has not been moved or deleted).
You can than view the source code to determine what the
program is used for.

You can also use the DSPPGMREF command to see what AS/400
objects the program accesses (files, data areas, other
programs, etc.).

vbMax:

Anything in QSYS is IBM-supplied and you will not have the source code on the system for it.

However, I did do a Google search on QSECIDL2 and this is the only thing that came up:

It appears that the program in question is part of a job that disables profiles that have not been used in a while.

Hi

Use the command

GO SECTOOLS.

This is where this job originated from. The tools in this menu allow you to disable and activate User Profiles on a particular date, or to set User Profiles to expire (become disabled) after a certain defined period of inactivity.

So, for example:

a) you have a temporary user and you don't want to have to remember to disable them when they leave
b) you want to keep a track on active users and deny them access if they don't use the system
c) You have a new user(s) starting next Monday
d) You have users that are excluded from all of the above,

you can set them up using options 2 to 8 on that menu.

The QSECIDL JOBSCDE is the Background processor for all of the above.
