Hi all,

Just upgraded a 2970 Catalyst to IOS 12.2(25)SEB2. I noticed the below entries were added by default. Do I essentially need these entries in my config? As of now, I'm not using QoS so is it safe to remove?

The latest code is 12.2(25)SEC.....

I upgraded some 3560's recently and this didn't happen with them and the configurations (with regards to QoS) are the same. I would do a write erase and reload and then see what comes up by default.

If you're really not using qos, these commands aren't doing anything.

Andy,

did you enable qos on your 3560s? Same thing happened on my 3560s and i have qos enabled on them. 12.2(25)SEC enables these commands by default with qos enabled, I think. not sure :)

anyways, if you read the QOS SRND guide these configurations are recommended for the 3560s. The 3560s, unlike the 3550s, have the capabilities to do input scheduling and queuing and much more dramatic drop thresholds as well. Very strong in the service provider arena where many classes of services of desired.

Try enabling qos on your 3560s and see if these commands appear. They also may be a result of an auto-qos configuration.

I have QoS enabled on the 3560's, but I upgraded them before I configured them (if you see what I mean?) and none of the commands you listed were there after the upgrade. I DON'T use Auto-QoS since it doesn't configure what I require (even with Cisco IP Telephony....).
I have just had a look at what Auto-QoS configures and the commands you list are what Auto-QoS sets up, so I assume you are using Auto-QoS; or have least enabled one port for Auto-QoS?
