Hi,
For the inherent bugs and complexity with sendmail, I am considering QMAIL
for my AIX servers. Has anyone installed QMAIL on AIX, I tried compiling
QMAIL with IBM C-Compiler and with the GCC compiler as well. Could not get
past the "make setup check" errors. Has anyone dealt with a similar problem.

Had no problems compiling on AIX 5.1, but then I didn't go with the complete qmail solution, the only bit I have used was the Qmail "pop3 for maildirs" bit.

I preferred used Postfix instead, in my insignificant opinion a far simpler solution that Qmail, especially at MTA management level.

The functionality that I need is just to be forward Emails
to a local SMTP router and also masquarade the sending systems hostname. Incoming mail for the outside world will
be disabled by the SMTP router. With that in question which
MTA would be a good, secure and realible. Also should not
be complex to configure like sendmail. The problem with
sendmail seems to be that with so many functionalities
it seems to be complex and does seem to have security holes.
