First and foremost, I am very new here.
Second, as a background of myself, I was thrown into the network here at my place of work. Our office grew and they decided to elect me to take care of all the technical things such as our server, computers, fax machines, printers, phone systems, software etc.

However, I am tired of being looked at that I do not know what I am doing. I dont have time for schooling, and reading most of the time puts me to sleep. I would like to start to take steps to getting certified in A+, Net+, and MCSE 2003.

Our office is led by XP Pro, and windows 2003 server, with one 2000 pro in the mix. I inquired with a company online at quickcert.com and this guy wanted to sell me a package of 42 cd roms and they guarantee certifications or your money back. The problem is that the whole thing is under $2000. Has anyone heard of this company? or does any one have any advice as to what avenue I should go down? How much did the certifications, your training, good books, etc. cost?

I understand that knowledge is power and comes with a price, but I am trying to justify furthering my knowledge.

Thank you advance!

Kind of reminds me of the old Forefront training systems. Asked for information, and all I got was a pushy salesman trying to sell me training software. Never could get them to send me a sample disk so I could evaluate thier products. They wanted $1500 (this was 4 years ago) for thier software.

We are in the same boat my friend. I just posted asking
if anyone knows anything about 'Smartcertify' ( I am also preparing to launch
myself in studying for MCSE 2003 Server.
They have been calling me at work quite often to sign up with them. They offer 24/7 support via a chat session or email or phone calls during business hours. Now they're offering me 2 years unlimited training for any course, at $2,500.00

I've asked for references here in san diego and it seems
to be taking them awhile in providing the info.
I do like the idea of being able to study anywhere/anytime
and having a mentor to call upon anytime as needed.

I'm also very new here, any info on 'Smartcertify' would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jtackett - I should have guessed that anything that is to good to be true probably is. You stated that all you got was a pushy salesman, Ha! this guy would not let me sleep! I am just glad I gave him my alias email and not my work email.

Latte - The more I think about it, I may just go through the hardknocks style. Someone mentioned transcenders.com and to be honest, I could get A+, Net+, and MCSE 2003 for less than what Quickcert had to offer.

They had sent an email with a quote stating if I act now, I would save $1200. Which normally I guess the price is around $3200 so I would have payed $2000. Even though they guarentee my certification or my money back, It still sounded like a load of bull. Not to mention I tried to tell the guy that my personal life wont allow that type of money right now and then he goes into a financing speech. Finally I told him to contact me in the new year just to get him off my case.

Looking at some other threads on this site, I think my best bet is to go with transcenders.com to go at my own pace at my own time for less money. I have read decent reviews about that site, and obviously no one has used Quickcert or the one Latte mentioned, or this thread would have had more replies. [noevil] Thanks for the replies.
