PWS with Win ME

Is it possible to install PWS on Win ME? I did but it doesn't work!!! Is there anyway to bypass this problem or should I format my hard drive and install Win98 SE?

I installed PWS successfully on Windows ME. The MTS install fails but the actual web server installed correctly and worked. I installed from windows 98 second edition.

That's what I did but it doesn't work, I will try to re-install it and if it won't work I will go back to Win98.
Did you install Wim ME on a formatted hard drive or upgraded it for Win98?

Have you used the Windows Update option to get the newest patches? I have done that a couple of times before I installed PWS. This might be the answer.

Sorry, but PWS is not supported on WinMe.
Microsoft does not have a supported webserver for Me because Me is geared towards the home user(read gamer) and not towards developers.
There have been some who have been able to get it to work, or were lucky enough that it worked out of the box, but they are in the severe minority.

If you call for support, you will not be able to get it because of the unsupported PWS/OS combo.

Microsoft might not support it, but I am defibitely using PWS on ME. Just because they do not support something does not mean that it will not work. What it actually means is that they did not produce a version specifically for ME and also that they will not provide support. As ME is really just Win98 3rd Edition then there really isn't that much of a problem.

While it mentions that it may work, it is not supported.

That is all I have stated before.

Considering how much has to work together (pws & asp & mdac & who-knows-what-else) getting it to work may be more of a headache than staying with Win98.

Or do like I did and just set up a spare machine with Win98 on it for this.

Hello, Over the past few days I have been having some problems with my PWS. I'm running Windows 98 and PWS 4.0. I have been using it for almost a year now, and this past week it started messing up on me. It started showing an HTTP 500 error everytime I went to the default page. So I turned off friendly HTTP error messages and this started showing up:"Server Application Error
The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Possible error could be the application is not registered correctly. Please contact the server administrator for assistant".

I have tried everything to fix this, but it just won't go away...does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Running perfectly on my machine, didn't have a problem installing and it seems to work the same as under 98, I just installed it before upgrading to ME.
