It depends on how far away the consoles are from the Option 11 . If in excess of 50 metres you will probably need the power TNs . If less than 50m you should be ok without them and therefore you could use the TNs for digital sets
that is what I intend to do, I am short of digital ports. this is being attended to, but as a means of overcoming the
problem to use the pwr tns. Can I just configure them as normal or do I have to do something to release them prior to
getting them to work ?
experiment, out one of the TN's for powerl see if the associated 2250 console will continue to work. If it does now program a gidital phne of your choice to that power outed TN.
You will have to physically disconnect the power TNs to see if the console still works okay. Removing the "PWR" programming type does not actually remove the power. Make sure you take note of the way the wires are connected in case you need to reconnect. They are not connected like a regular phone.
If the console works okay with the power TNs disconnected then you can out them in LD 12 and then use them for regular digital sets.
Look at the TN's on the crossconnect blocks to see if there are any wires looped to the PWR TN's and then to the console, if not you can use them as there not being used for Power.
the console will work, the display may be to dim.. you can use a local power supply to offset that.. be sure it's at least one amp..
on installs i almost never waste dig tn's for power.. i have needed a remote power source once.. i bought it from a local source, not nortel.. at one time ts had a fit if they did not see a ps built.. i have built a couple, never cross connected them, talked to nortel and took them out.. all pwr does is oosmlt.. it keeps you from seeing that tn in the luvu table..
