Which PuTTY download do I need for CS1000, Option 11-81C, etc.??

I've started using a free program called ZOC. It also does some scripting using REXX language. I'm not sure if anyone has some scripts that work OK?.

Note that PuTTY is a great, free, opensource application. It's a bit basic and has no real scripting support. I've used it for connecting to Option 11c switches on and off for a couple years now. However, if you have an older system with Meridian Mail, you may have problems with PuTTY. I could never get the terminal emulation to work correctly when dealing with Meridian Mail. If you are only accessing the LDs, etc, it works well.

When I deal with Meridian Mail, I use a commercial application called SecureCRT. I'm sure there are other options out their as well, but it's the one that works for me.

I realize that putty installs to my pc. That's what I want. I want to use it the way I have always used Procomm Plus, except that I want to connect to the pbx via ip address, not via modem.

Note that for Merdian Mail access Procomm Plus works ok setting the Terminal Emulation option to VT102 and using F1 - F5 as the softkeys typically indicated as F6 - F10.

Again, my intent is to connect via lan using PuTTY. However on the PuTTY download page there seems to be several different versions. I just need to know which one works for the Meridian 1/Succession/CS1K family of switches.

thanks for your input.

I have used both PuTTY and Secure CRT for several yrs. I do like PuTTY better because of its ease of use and its IP SSH applications or base serial connections thru modem or direct connect.

BTW, don't connect to the MMail over Ethernet. Don't use AX if you are connected via a PTY. If you do you will crash the PTY and MMail LSL. You will need to reset the pbx to reset the ports

I'm using 2007-11-15:r7773 on my CS1000E.

Seems to me I would have needed to add some hardware to get it on the LAN when it was an Opt. 61. Don't remember what it was.

@Firebirdscrambler
Zoc does not appear to be free. Do I have the right place? : For me SecureCRT with scripting support for perl, python, vbscript and even ruby wins out over anything else I've ever tried.
Writing CS1000 scripts for use with SecureCRT is something I do very much of and with great success. If I can, anyone can.

kryten

Thanks Kryten68. ZOC does have a free capability, but you have to wait 90 seconds I think, before you can use the tool. Is SecureCRT a free program?. I was wondering how it compares with other programs?. It sounds easy to use.

SecureCRT isn't free - about $125usd for a single license. Gets a bit cheaper if you buy 10 or more licenses.
But I would recommend SecureCRT to anyone who uses a terminal emulator frequently.
1. Very well designed emulator with lots of features.
2. Various protocols and scripting languages supported.
3. Support is incredible! When I had some questions I got someone that actually uses the product and went to the "lab" himself to reproduce the problem. When it turned out that I wanted something that the software couldn't do they submitted it as new feature request and it was included in a later release.
4. User forums that are very helpful and VanDyke support people providing frequent input.

Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch. I just think VanDyke deserves some credit. Definitely worth paying for this product.

Thanks StanlySteamer for the reply. I'll see about getting hold of this software tool and try to compare it against other emulators.
