hello smart flash ppl out there. i need help for inserting a preloader for my website, please give me detailed instructions....im only 13, cant read too complicated tutorials. thanks

Okay, first of all, shouldn't you be doing something childlike and innocent, and well, NOT HARD like Flash? Enjoy your youth, please. As for the preloader, this may seem long, but I want to make sure my instructions are clear. I'm writing this with Flash 4 instructions because it's all I have access to now.

To create a preloader:

1.Open the Scene panel (Windows > Inspectors)

2.Add a new scene named "Preloader". Scenes in Flash play in the order displayed in the Scene panel, so move your Preloader scene to the top of the list.

3. To build your preloader scene without revealing the artwork that you'll be loading up while the preloader is going, simply set the Alpha effect to 0%:

4.Rename Layer 1 "Preloader."

5.Insert keyframes at various places in your scene.

6.Place an instance of one of your symbols at one of your keyframes, and set its Alpha effect to 0%.

7.Place an instance of another symbol in another keyframe, and set its Alpha effect to 0%.

8.Do the same with any sound, and on the Sound panel set the Sync option to "Stop" (so the sound is inaudible).

9.Place any graphics used in your movie clips in the same manner.

10.Continue placing instances of the stuff you used at separate keyframes, keeping the sounds turned off and the alphas to 0%. This part changes depending on how much stuff you've used and how long your movie is.

11.Insert a normal frame at the end so you give the last symbol time to load up.

12.Add a new layer and start building a simple scene to keep their eyes busy, but take it real easy on the artwork and sounds (you don't want a preloader for your preloader)

13.Test the movie. The first scene on your list (preloader) will play, keeping them interested with simple animation, while all your parts load up without them knowing it. Hopefully everything will be loaded up by the time your second scene starts.

I went through this fast because you sounded like you were in a hurry. Here's a website, but the instructions are specific to a project. You'll have to translate it to what you're doing, but hopefully these instructions will work.

I've got to run, but there's a lot of people who watch this forum, so I'm sure you'll have many helpful volunteers step forward if you need help.

Good luck and let us know how it works. How about a link to you're site when you're done? It'll probably make me feel bad about my slowness in catching on to this program, but I'm really interested to see the work of a thirteen year old. - nichole
