As a newcomer to the world of SMS 2003, I have gone as far as setting it up in our test domain and managed to push agents to the clients. As far as I am aware, there are no problems so far.
One of the biggest reasons we would like to use SMS is to be able to push out the Microsoft's monthly security patches.
I have also downloaded and installed Windows Update Agent package and can see huge list of updates in Software Updates.
I have no idea what to do next as I am unable to find any sort of help on this. I would like to know how to pick certain updates and not push out all of them and not been able to find any help on microsoft's web page.
Any ideas?

First of all, you need to have a scan tool installed. Do you have one installed? If so, are you using MBSA or ITMU?

I have the scan tool installed. Went through a MS TechNec doc called 'Deploying SMS 2003 in an Active Directory Environment'.
Also have the MBSA installed on the 2003 server.
If it helps, when I look at the Actions tab on 'Systems Management Properties' on client, I see the following:

Discovery Data Collection Cycle
File Collection Cycle
Hardware Inventory Cycle
Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
Software Inventory Cycle
User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle
Windows Installed Source List Update Cycle.

not sure what to do next. Thanks.
