Is there a way to push out the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.0.1 ? I dont want to go to 1000 machines to load the update. Any suggestions? Also, is there a way to push out 4.0.1 to any machines that dont have ZEN on them at all? Please help if you can!

Well you can run a snapshot and push it out to all the stations when users log in. Then have the system reboot and it should be updated.

The only way I can think of pushing it out to systems that do not have it would be to send it out in a email with a link back to your server and a explanation on what to check in order to do it. Or place it on your website and let your people download it along with instructions they can print out to install it.

Other than that you have to go from workstation to workstation to install. Hope this helps...

Double check the install notes with the patch. It talks about setting up an application object using the MSI to push to your clients. I wouldn't try the snapshot approach. There are some places where I've always been hesitant to use snapshot. Pushing out NetWare clients for one. The Workstation Manager updates do have some bindings into the video and nic drivers. Best to run the install if you can get away with it. The text file mentions the variables you can use so that it runs silently as well.

Automatic Client Update. Sounds like another one of those promised things that should run flawlessley and make my life easy. OK. I will bite. Please explain to me how to setup and configure and run this magical Automatic Client Update to make Zen upgrade itself from 4.0 to 4.01. This really sounds too good to be true but Im willing to give anything a shot at this point as I dont have time to upgrade them all manually any way.

Oh, wait, your talking about just running the ACU. My bad. I dont have an ACU file in my SP1 for Zen. Manually installing 4.0.1 over 4 is a disaster and makes it not work. Can you direct me to a workable ACU for Zen 4 to 4.0.1 that wont blow up on me or cause problems and that works correctly?

You can't use ACU for ZEN Agent, only client upgrades, and yes, ACU works perfectly for that. I am assuming you are talking about the Zen Agent. Just setup regular app object. I havent had any issues installing the new version over the old one.

We have the same issue and about 8000 pc's to do these updates with, I wrote a tiny exe that will run in the login script it verifies HKeyLocalMachine/Software/Novell/ZENworks/Version and if the version number does not match the installed version that I am going for then it runs the Agent msi /q (Quiet) this works in the login script and it works well. It also works with the numerous updated versions of 4.0X agent
Good Luck
