Often when my PC boots up, it halts with a blank Windows interface (ie no icons or task bar) but a blank window headed Purity Scan. When I check the Task Manager this program is reported as 'Not Responding'. If I kill it, the pc continues to load as normal. This doesn't occur every time.
What is 'Purity Scan'? Is it essential to XP, and if not, how do I get rid of it? It doesn appear in Add/Remove programs, and Ad-Aware 6 doesn't seem to identify it as Spyware.

Couldn't find any WINSERVS files at all, but downloaded Spybot and it picked a couple of things up. Hopefully that's the last I'll see of that pesky window. cheers!
