I going to purchase a new windows 2003 server from my local vendor to serve as the main DC and file storage for users of our LAN. My local vendor will also be setting up the server.
Can anyone give me any recommendations as to what to include with the server purchase. How do determine how many licenses I will need. Also how big of a hard drive to purchase.
Currently we have a windows 2000 pro server used for DC &sqlserver and file storage by users. We also have a windows 2000 server used as a backup DC, backup sqlserver, and live sharepoint usage.
Currently on our windows 2000 DC server we have 83 actual logon accounts. Some of these logon accounts were created from the seperate windows 2000 sharepoint server. Some accounts were also created to support authentication by our other remote LANS since we do not have a trusted domain setup between the other LANS.
We also have 2 hard drives. One is being mirrored First hdd is 35GB with 3 partitions and 12GB free space. The other 65GB (mirrored) with no partitions has 42.54GB free space. I was thinking with the new server getting a 150GB HDD mirrored.
Also I am going to probably buy another new windows 2003 to handle just sql server.
