I am looking into purchasing a new machine to act as a server for exchange 2003... also the same machine will act as a storage area for shared drives. any suggestions would be appreciated (vendors, manufacturers, specs.. etc)

Thanks,
Bill

how long is a piece of string. Depends on other servers, users, load, traffic, other services...

the current system is a 450MhZ pentium3 with 700+ ram, 20GB hard drive. we run exchange 5.5, as well as a production software called Trans4m, some folders are used as shared drives. To move up to exhcange 2003, we're lookin for some more muscle.

here's my suggestion for less than 1000 bucks:

amd 3000+
asus A7V8X
512 mb pc 2700
2 X 120 gig 8mb cache whatever brand but good brand like WD or seagate

this is excatly what i'm running for my 2k server with xchange 2000.....turbo mode without burning too much hard cold cash....
