Sorry, I didn't get whether you agree or disagree, but in any case, I didn't mean that the pun should necessarily stay strictly on topic, just that there should be a topic or an objective other than just win a pun competition at any cost, or making "forced/quoted puns, rather than us just being ourselves among friends". Well, maybe words "without consideration of acknowledgment; the notion that one person might chuckle (or even get it) was pleasing enough" describe it better. If that one person liked, he/she may nominate it later. Just don't make it a purpose, it's not a talent show.

That was my deepest fear. Instead of being funny for the simple sake of humor, we'd be trying to make everyone giggle for recognition. There's a difference.

My concern is that the "Punmeister" thread will indeed turn into a "talent show."

Tim, having groaned and grinned at a number of your posts in the past, I agree with you 100%. [smile] <wing><wing>

I think you've raptor arms around the real issue and we must beak careful to not stoop to the level of a talon show with everyone carrion on with puns nested in every post.

Like you, I prey the "Punmeister" thread does not beakcome a soarly egretable forum for hawking stale humor!

i don't dare try and add to this. i'll just sit here and groan quietly.

BoxHead,

I gather you agree that "bird" is the past-tense of burr?

I wood carrion, tree as I mite, but my warts are limbited, if knot truncated.

However, I'm hooked on the "reel issue." Perch, of course.

To tell the truth, SilentAiche, I had never considered that! Once again, I've groan from your wisdom.
