Pulling up Excel from ASP

Is it possible to pull up Excel from ASP with the gridlines present?

ASP runs on the server in a background thread without any user interface. Now my question is where are the grid lines going to be displayed?

I guess I should clarify a bit more I use the following code to show Excel in my browser

<%Response.ContentType = &quot;application/vnd.ms-excel&quot;%>

I run my asp code to fill in the tables from my database and everything runs fine. When the Excel sheet comes up in the browser it defaults with no grid lines. At this point I can go up to options and check off view gridlines, but I would like to do that programmatically.
