If I am joining about 20 tables in Database expert and using fields from around 10 tables only in my report. Will it effect my report speed.
I am considering that the other ten tables removal from my dataexpect does not effect my result

Please advice

hi
would be better if you can create a view to limit the record return
simply import in the view the record field you need for your report

if it moves and should not used Duck Tape
if does not move and should used WD-40

The answer typically is yes. If you are only using data from half the tables in your join, the query is still joining all the tables adding overhead.

Depending on the version of Crystal, you either need to remove the tables you aren't using OR (in CRXI), select the joins you don't need and in the join type criteria, select 'Not enforced'. This will keep Crystal from including the unneeded tables in the query.

Also, the downside to creating a view is that should you join the view to other tables, there are no indexes on a view and as a result, performance can be verrry sloooww!

Hi,
In that case, you would create another view with the added tables joined..Views take up no real storage space and are easily modified..
