We currently have 8.0 Crystal Enterprise and 8.5 Crystal Reports. I have several reports that use an SQL query (Crystal SQL Designer) as a data source. I would like to publish those reports along with the query files on the Enterprise server. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Hi

It doesn't matter whether you use the SQL from Crystal or views from any databases that you are currently using.

All you need to do is put the reports that you have created into Crystal Enterprise.

I'm still confused. The SQL Designer creates a query (.qry) file that I then use as the data source for a Crystal report. I can publish the Crystal report to the Enterprise server, but what do I do with the query (.qry) file? Do I need to somehow put that out on the Enterprise server? If so, where does it go on the server? Thanks again for the help!

Hi Ben,

For CE 8.0, the Crystal Support site says that you can't base a report on a Crystal Query. Here's the URL:

For later releases of CE, there's a white paper that covers how to implement Crystal Query-based reports in CE. Here's the URL for that:

That is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for your help!

Keep in mind that the Crystal Query Designer is generally a bad idea, and it doesn't even come with CE 9 (seperate download). It just adds a layer of potential problems.

Try to use Views or SP's for advanced SQL.
