I need to open ports to allow an external company access to my SQL server. They have requested access to the following;

"The RDA software uses a range of standard network ports to communicate. By default these are UDP port 60001 and TCP ports 5000 through 5010. "

I have created 12 protocol definitions (an inbound for TCP ports 5000 to 5010 and a single send receive for UDP port 600001)

I then created a client address set containing the 3 IP's used by the external company.

Finally I published the server by creating 11 rules (one for each inbound TCP port and one for the UDP port) allowing access only to the client address set containing the companies 3 IP's.

On testing the external company can connect on port 5000 but no other ports. Can anyone suggest what the problem may be?

Am I going about this in the correct way.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Barry

Do they need access to just microsoft SQl? You may need to open port 1433 Tcp In also

how about creating an IP packet filter rule on the ports?

I got this to work. I had setup ISA correctly as detailed above however I didn't have the SQL server setup as a Secure NAT client. Simply entering the IP of our ISA server as the primary default gateway of the machine did the trick.

Thanks,

Barry
