Hi all

We have recently moved from Office 2000 to 2003 and have started experiencing some odd behaviour. Our users roam to different locations in the building and if they create a publisher document in one room and try to print it the document will print to the printer in the original room. When they click print the option box comes up with the correct printer for the room but when they click to confirm it sends it to the wrong room.

If i look in Tools - Options - Print it says "the current printer is HP 4050" but if i go to File - Print it lists the correct printer HP 2100. The document seems to remember the location where it was created, when this happened with Publisher 2000 it gave you the option to change this when the document was opened.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers.

Hi all

When I moused over the print icon in Publisher 2003 a printer in another area of the building would appear. This printer was not installed on my the PC and was not showing in file print, or in control panel - printers and faxes

Hopefully this will help you all, cause it worked for me. I went to the control panel - printers and faxes

Clicked on file - server properties - drivers and removed the driver for the printer that kept appearing. There was also another unwanted printer driver there so i got rid of that too.

Hope this may help some of you

Cheers

Hi

That does work but unfortunatly our locked down users don't have the rights to perform this operation.

Oh if only 2003 would point out that the printer has changes like 2000 did all would be well. Sigh

Thanks.

When you are the IT director, it's your job to make sure the IT works. If it does work they know already and if it doesn't, they don't want to hear your pathetic excuses.

Hi

Not sure if this will help or not.

Go to File > Page setup > Printer and Paper. If you change the printer there it seems to save that with the file. The Tools > Options then shows the printer you just selected as the "Current printer".

Cheers

Yep that works and i've been telling the users to do that but they keep forgetting and concequently printing all over the place sometimes to other buildings.
Unfortunaly we are talking about students here so instructions on anything other than drinking games go in one ear and out the other :)

Cheers.
