Hope everyone is doing great here..

Office 2000 was part of a published desktop.. so I'm going to delete it and freshly install Office 2003 on my MetaFRame XP servers.. So my question is: After I install OFFICE 2003, what needs to be done in Citrix to ensure that it is part of the Published desktop? do I add it to the published desktop? did the icon ever really go away once I removed Office in the first place? should I just hit refresh and will it re appear?

thank you for any support on this

Hi there

By default, Office will not create any desktop icons (other than outlook)
I use publised desktops for our users and have done the very same thing recently.

I use the MS ORK for deploying Office. This way you can create an install that will always be the same on every box and specify what icons you want to replace on the start menu, quick launch and desktop, etc. I just use Word and Excel on the desktop and leave the other bits in the start menu.

No need to add Outlook to the list of additional icons as the default install adds it anyway in win 2000.

Using the ORK will take a little longer to set up but is well worth it. (and its free)

hope this helps

Thx aco!

So what your telling me is that the Office resource kit will allow me to create an install package that will add back the Office icons on the Metaframe XP servers where I have a main pubished desktop that all my users use thru a thin (Wyse) client?

Just to be sure.. this is what I need and am hoping I got this right.

thx
