How can I merge all the graphics and text into the paper background? This is such a hassle coz the publication file size is too big. I think that when I flatten all the text and graphic boxes to the paper, then the file size would shrink.

Hello,
Have a question, did you place all the files or paste them. If you pasted them it will make the file size huge.
The only other way I know of to decrease the size of the file is to do a save as. This will rewrite the whole file and remove any items you had in the file before that you may have removed. A "save" takes all information you had in the file and adds any changes.
Good luck

Sago:
PM files cannot be flattened. A PM file is not a rastered page, it´s a
sequence of commands how to build a page. Empty paper consumes very
little space, let´s say 30kbytes for infrastructure.
a) Link all images, don´t embed.
b) Save better=smaller instead of faster (default). This deletes the history.
Then "Save as" doesn´t create considerably smaller files (a few percent).
c) Split into chapters and "book" them finally.
The speed for editing doesn´t depend on Link/Embed mode.
Can be increased only by low resolution graphics preview.
