I would like to ask if you can do the following.

Hold public folders on a server but copy/synchronise the attachments to a file system..(not exchange) via ftp or something clever like that ? I have a reason, I may even have a plan.

Basically I want to merge an existing SBS site into an exchange site that is 400 miles away. But I want to keep large attachments local (to the SBS site that is).

ascotta,

You can do it. The software I use batch processes attachements from Outlook/Exchange. I use it to:
1. Copy user attachments to a designated location.
2. Replace the attachments with a shortcut to the new location so users can still find them.

is the site to get the software from. It is called the Outlook Attachment Sniffer.

Thank you I have given this a go, Works OK for Interactive but cannot get it to work batch.?

Do you have to buy the real thing or am I doing something wrong. I creat a file called something .cfg and run the exe with this on the end and it starts the program and asks for you to press the number however it runs through and complete and does nothing. The fields are empty when it runs through (you can see it as it runs)

Any ideas as to my stupidity ? I have entererd the full path to the cfg file and moved it about etc.

We will purchase it if this works I love it.

Cheers

I tried it from the command line with my registered version. It did not work.

I will email the author and see what he has to say.

I tell my users when they get a quota warning.
1.delete as much possible
2.run Outlook attachment sniffer.

For what you are doing batch is obviously better.

I e-mailed him yesterday but no reply yet

Thsnks for the efforts tho ta. even the interactive method will get me by for just now

Cheers
