I have setup a public folder to recive e-mails from out side folks for jobs. I want to have and autoreply to confirm that we recived thier message.

I setup the folder and the autoreply, Evey thing works from internal exhange. But when I send a test e-mail from internet. I recive the message in the public folder but the autoresponse never goes out.

Any help would be great.

Do you have "automatic replies to the internet" disabled, in your server config?

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

If you are talking about Global Settings > Internet Message Formats > Default > Properties > Advanced tab and I checked the Allow atuomatic replies, then the answer is yes.

Do you have a gateway server, or does the server the public folder live on connect straight to the internet? If you have a gateway server, you might need to allow the other server to relay through the gateway.

Is it the old issue with ipm.note vs ipm.post? If I remember right when you send an smtp message to a pf in 2000 or 2003 it's an ipm.post message class. If you send it from a mapi client it's ipm.note. If it's a post, the autoreply doesn't work.

There's a fix for that.
