I am trying to get a PTT handset to work on a Nortel 3904 telephone. Hook the PTT handset up and the will not recognize me taking it off the cradle unless I press the PTT button before I pick the phone up. I have looked through the programing and cannot find anything to tell the phone not to look for the mic on the handset. Any suggestions.

I'd be looking for CLS OLA IRA (and LPK whatever KEY 5 or whatever) in your case. Not positive that will do it, but it's worth it.

Is that what you needeed?

I am not using a headset, this a Push-to-Talk (PTT) handset.

if you tell the station your using a headset it might recognize the ptt handset... i've seen those used and working in the headset jack with autoanswer

What I have gathered, even when in the headset location, the 3904 phone needs to sense the mic in the handset or headset. With a PTT, unless the button is pressed, the phone does not sense the mic and will not enable the call to that handset. There must be a way to disable this option in the phone.

I found a remark about 'connecting a device to M3904' in the M3904 Quick Reference Guide, it's worth a try;

Activate Headset port external alerter:
When the Headset port external alerter option (available on the M3904) is activated, it supports a visual or audible alerter and/or recorder device. This device plugs into the Headset port, which is located on the bottom of the telephone.

After you select Headset port ext alerter from the Options List menu;
From the External alerter screen, press the On Key to turn on Headset port external alerter, or press the Off Key to
turn off Headset port external alerter. Press the Done Key to save changes. Press the Quit Key or Options Key to exit.

Headset option did not work, works on a 3903 though.
