Hello!

I'm having a BC9 and I whoul like to change the password, but I can it through the command iopwc. Anybody know any other way to change the password?
tks

Felipe

why can't you change it? what do you get back when you put the command in?

best parnum

MD110 BC9 cannot use the NIU board, so the correct command is IOPWC.
But you have to be on level 7 (the highest level) to be able to change passwords.
It depends on the settings in the IOCAP:COM=IOPWC;

Sorry!

"It depends on the settings in the IOCAP:COM=IOPWC;"
This is NOT correct.

If you are on level X after login, then you can change password on level X and below, just using the IOPWC:AUTH=,PSW=; (AUTH can be from 0 to 7).

Correction!

"It depends on the settings in the IOCAP:COM=IOPWC;"
This is correct.

I tried it just now.
You cannot change your own password, if you are logged in on a lower password level (e.g. level 6), and the IOCAP:COM=IOPWC; is set to level 7.

Please post the IOCAP:COM=IOPWC; here, or check it yourselves.

What You See Is What You Get
Never underestimate tha powah of tha google!

Have you seen any related fault signals in the HIMDP;?
Check e.g. for new fault signals, when you try to change the password, and then try to restart the reported PU's.

///doktor

I can change the psw, but when I try to access the MD does not accept the password. I think someone changed the password for a Sacop or something ...it would be possible?

....in HIMDP has no error..

Try to change the password to HELP, and log the commands and output from the MD110.
Post the result here.
I would like you to post these commands:

IOPWC:pSW=HELP,AUTH=7;
IOPWP;
IOCAP:COM=IOPWC;
IOCAP:COM=IOPWP;

I pasted this explaining text also:
Every command in the system is associated with an authority class. This authority is assigned a password, which the maintenance operator must give at a logon. When the maintenance operator gives a correct password for an authority class, all commands with this authority class and all commands associated with a lower class can be accessed. The authority class of every command is set from the beginning, and it is to be found in the command list. This is to be found in the O&M Handbook. It is only possible to change passwords with equal or lower authority class than that of the maintenance operator.
