.PST question

Hello all-

Hope everyone is doing well!

I will be upgrading my small corporation with the new Outlook 2003 client. (actually Office 2003).. I will need to entirely remove Office 2000 and do a clean installion of Office 2003, my question is: will my users lose their Contacts, tasks, calendar due to this process? doesn't their .pst contain all these components and wouldn't it also be stored on the Exchange server for a period of time that you set?

If they are using PST files for their mail and have said information stored in the PST then the information will remain in the PST. Removing MS Office does not delete PST files.

If said informaiton is in the Exchange Server then it will remain there independent of what you do with Office.

That was excellent information and appreciate it. I suppose I should've asked whether the .pst holds all of the above? Calendar, contacts, tasks etc (I don't think I missed anything)

Yes. It holds email, calendar, tasks, notes, journal, contacts, etc.

It does not hold rules, junkmail filter entries (safe senders, block senders, etc), signatures, account info, etc.

Only thing I would add is that a PST CANhold all of the above mentioned items but noes not have to. The Exchange server should be the default but you never know what a user has dragged into a PST.
