PS7 Plugins Not Showing Up ...

Hi,

I've been trying to install some plugins with Photoshop 7.0 and they simply aren't showing up in the filters menu. I also tried setting the plugins directory in preferences, but it still isn't working.

One oddity I've noticed is that the plugin installs aren't detecting and asking me which program I want to use the plugin with. Eyecandy says it should do that, but I never got prompted.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Hi,

Plug-ins such as eye candy 4000 go in:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins
or wherever you have photoshop installed

If you have plug-ins that are simply .8bf files (filter files) then you put them in that folder and restart photoshop. You may not be seeing them becuase they might be in a subfolder of the filters menu down at the very bottom.

Hmm, yeah I installed them to the plugin directory... Still not showing up. Not at the bottom of the menu either.

I wonder what could be wrong.

I've tried Eyecandy 4000 and Kais powertools ... Both of which fail to show up.

HI,

For Eye Candy 4000, there is an .exe installer that you run to get the program to install. Now I believe when I installed this under Win ME it showed a list of Photoshop Installs and which version I wanted to use it with. However I just ran the installer again and it's not showing me that (Win 2k Pro).

Simply go through that installer and when it says choose a destination folder or whatever it says, simply browse to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins or wherever your photoshop is installed. The eye candy installer will extract the filter and the settings into a folder called "Eye Candy 4000" within the plug-ins folder. As long as that folder is there within the plug-ins folder then it should work. Simply restart photoshop, or maybe even restart your machine and then open photoshop and goto FILTER > EYE CANDY 4000 > filter you desire and that should work.

Same goes for Kais powertools (Never used this one b4) you should be able to install or simply put the .8bf file within that plug-ins folder and it should show up in the FILTER menu within photoshop.

Still wont show up...

I've also noticed I did not get that menu where it is supposed to let me select Photoshop. Hmm.

I seem to be the only person in the world with this problem.

Hi,

What windows environment are you running?

If you want I can send you my copy of the installer (no serial provided) and you can try to use that if you wish. Might help.

Or, even if you can't select photoshop, does your installer install it somewhere on your machine? Run the installer, goto START MENU > SEARCH > FOR FILES OR FOLDERS then type in Eye Candy 4000 as the search query and see where your computer installs it. Then goto that folder copy the whole Eye Candy 4000 folder and stick it in the plug-ins folder. If you can do that, it has to work, otherwise something is up, either a bad installer or something possibly wrong with your machine.

Try that out and let me know.

I had to reinstall Photoshop ... It works now.

How odd ?

I noticed it wasn't scanning the plugin directory upon closer inspection...
