We have a PS4 environment with (2) W2K3 servers running PS4 and (1) W2K3 server running WI. users connect to our network through VPN and then launch Citrix web page. users have just started accessing the WI environment and we're getting our first few troubleshooting issues. today problem:

users launches application (vendor-specific healthcare ap). they receive a popup that says:
Error in ICA File:
The line '<!--" was encountered before a section was found
Please contact your MF admin

they click OK then receive:
The address of an application server must be specified

they click OK and then briefly see a Citrix MetaFrame splash screen with the text "Connection Error" at the bottom. it goes away on it's own.

this is new to the user as they have been using their app successfully for almost 2 months. the only fix we were able to find, was have the user go into the Settings section of WI, under Performance, change the Connection Speed to something specific instead of the No Preference option that has been there all this time. we have not done any additional work on the server since we've released it to users, so there are no changes that we know of. i've seen a few posting about checking port 443 on our firewall and have a call into those guys as well. anything else we can check from the Citrix side of things? the server seems to be fine (not dropping off the network or anything) and i don't see anything in the event logs. appreciate any help!

we may have answered our own question so i'll post for anyone who has this happen as well.

we compared our directory on the WI server of our Prod environment to our Test environment and we seemed to be missing the default.ica file in Prod. we simply copied the default.ica from our Test WI box to our Prod WI box and that fixed it. now we just would like to know what happened to the file from Prod to begin with. but that's our problem!

Image my delight when I found your post today. When my users could not log on to our W2k server with PS4, the error just said "can not log on" or something.

I looked in the Event viewer and it told me right away that the Default.ICA file was missing.

I created a new site with the correct DMZ settings, copied the file to the existing directory and I thing we are ok now.

I have also placed a copy of the default.ica on the Administrator desktop for same keeping.

Any more information on why this file simply disappeared?

nothing new on this from our end. we've been monitoring the Event Logs and still no explanation. i'll take a cue from you and keep a copy on the desktop as well. i have also verified that this is backed up by our enterprise backup software.
