I'm after redirecting users without them being aware of the transition and am considering the use of:

<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName ProxyPass / ProxyPassReverse / </VirtualHost>

which appears to do the trick, provided the links within old-domain.com are relative. However, is there any means by which this redirection can be detected by the user?

Thanks in advance.

I'm curious, why would you want to redirect without users knowing?

Chris.

Hi Chris. Nothing untoward, just a branding thing.

could you not use Rewrite rule .....

or have I misunderstood what you are trying to achieve?

Laurie.

Hi Laurie. Yep, I've experimented with RewriteRule and it does the same thing on the face of it, but seemed to stall on nested Flash movie loading. Plus, as it's a simple redirection (all traffic going to a single destination) I figured ProxyPass was the best way to go.

I'm open to other suggestions though. My main concern is keeping this hidden from the user (again, nothing nefarious going on).
