Hi,

I've got a customer which has a problem with their system. They complains that when they use Protem terminal emulation software, it comes out one character at a time, and it is very slow. Anybody knows what Protem is.
It seems that their configuration is that they are using Protem (sp??) terminal emulation software on PCs which are connected to the LAN and is then connected to the WAN to the server located somewhere. The server is an F50
server. Their oslevel is AIX 4.2.1. Anybody?

Rgds.

Hello,

1) You have a customer and I suppose they pay you some money for the service they get.
2) we help you resolve your customer problem what do we get nothing.

I dont know anything about prote(r)m

but putty does it better (ask google where is it)

AIX 4.2 is way old - so they may need to get aix 4.3.3 from IBM (at a charge) or at least patch it to recommended maintenance level

Our F50's runs AIX 4.3.3 and 5.1 and ssh (secure replacement for telnet &company) is working fine (although F50 is not top-of-the-line in performance - it makes perfect development environment for UNIX and Tomcat)

For your information, me or my company are getting nothing from this company since our last engineer screw up the system after doing some services there. BTW, the engineer resign and could not be contacted.

thanks anyway.

It seems like that hurts

Check older posts - they have lots of info on AIX performance
and make AIX not to start policyd (smitty qos)

and check if ethernet type is selected correctly etc
