Using word 2000 and just setting up my own business. I will be sending reports to various people and many times will be emailing them. I want to be able to protect those reports so that they cannot be edited by someone else. Password protecting is not the answer since as soon as you give someone the password they can edit the darn thing. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Hi kh707,

maybe converting them to pdf-files is an option?

Actually that is what I've really been trying to do but...there are problems with that one too. For some reason the pdfwriter macro really screws up my word and doesn't seem to work...have been playing with that as well.

How are you protecting the document? Why do you need to give them the password?

If you open your document and select Tools, Protect Document and click the For Forms option.

This will prevent anyone changing the document and not prompt for a password on opening.

Perfect...that is exactly what I wanted. I am just in the process of starting a business and have not sent any reports out yet. And absolutly needed to have them protected in some manner but the only way I knew as with the password which defeated the whole purpose. Thank you so much for your help. It looks like this option will work for me.
