On a WSS site I want to create folders and protect who can access them. I know I can create Doc Libaries with unquie pressions but then those don't appaer in the Nav bar of the parent site.

Protecting sub folders

They should appear for those that do have access to the doc library and not appear for those without access.

AFAIK, item level permission is not available in v2 (2003) of WSS, and security can only be applied at the document library level. There are 3rd party tools which can provide a workaround, such as:

Thank you guys. I figured the security I desire is something that would require a third part web part or wait until 2007.
