When i set u my spread sheet i set a column of cells to the format of dd-mm-yy mm-ss and hen i paste data into the cells it reverts, i need to find a way of locking this cell format so that it doesnt automatically change back to something different, it doesnt matter how many times i change the format to the one i want it just wont stay put, any ideas peeps?

hi,

You set a FORMAT.

When you paste, JUST PASTE, you paste values & formats, So, guess what? You have just REPLACED your original format!

Do a Paste Special -- VALUES, or any other option WITHOUT FORMATS.

Well it works for me, according to the information that you have shared.

1) I formatted my dates in accordance with your specification

2) I enter a date and time in some other column in mm/dd/yyyy 3/25/2011 6:15

3) I COPY that entered date/time

4) I Edit > Paste Special -- VALUES in the formatted column 25-03-11 15-00

LOOKS GOOD TO ME!

If you care to supply additional information, please be painfully specific.

I notice that you do not have HOURS represented on your format!!!

Is that significant???

Fail, this still didnt fix my issue,
Describe precisely what you tried as a test.

Cheers, Glenn.

Please post EXACTLY what you COPY from MSSQL.

COPY it and then PASTE here, please, on a separate line.
