Protected BCV's

When a BCV is introduced to a source can the BCV be a mirrored BCV (protected) or is it an unprotected BCV with no mirroring.

a BCV by default is unprotected. It has to be converted to a "standard" volume before any protection (RAID-1 or RAID-S) can be added. BIN file change... I think the ECC open Edition can do this as well

Yes you can have mirrored or even SRDF'd bcv's...

A BCV is unprotected if you do not have SRDF.

A BCV can be mirrored, it can be the last chance to keep safe data by running some reverse split.

Remember that the BCV M2 is not seen by the host.
