Good Morning! Is it possible to prevent someone from viewing the code that is placed in a query.

Thanks

FB

1. If you go to Tools ==> Startup. Then deselect "Allow Toolbar/Menu Changes". This will keep the users from going to the design view.
2. Removing the F11 key option will keep them from going to the database window. This is done by going to Tools ==> Startup, then clicking the Advanced button. Then deselecting "Use Access Special Keys".

This is just a couple of ways to keep them out of the design view of things.

Will need to know a little more about the structure of your database. Have you considered an MDE file? Is you query code in a query object or in a module? Do you have a startup routine (Autoexec?).

Thanks for the response and the advice!!! How would I determine if the code is in a query or an object?

Regards

The query is in a query object. I followed your instructions and I am still able to view the code while in the design view of the query. Any other suggestions?

Thanks Again!!

I tried all of Ms Access Security fearures and although you can prevent others from modifying the query, if the appropriate column is selected, all they need to do is press Shift + F2 and they could view thew code. Any other suggestions?

Going back to step 2 of the origianl post is where you can disable those special keys such as Shift F2.

2. Removing the F11 key option will keep them from going to the database window. This is done by going to Tools ==> Startup, then clicking the Advanced button. Then deselecting "Use Access Special Keys".

I forgot one thing. They can simply drag the column open and view it directly from the query screen. I want them to be able to run the query. I just don't want anyone to see the code.

Thanks
