We are being quoted 180k to upgrade our Option 81c from Succession 4.5 to 6.0, is it possible that that price is only software?

What type of hardware is your system currently? I can see that being a correct price if you are currently on Motorola processors with an IGS network fabric. Upgrading to PIV processors and Fiber Network Fabric with FIJI cards, card cages, etc will jack the price on up there. Does this price also include CallPilot or OTM upgrades? Does it include IP equipment upgrades such as signaling servers?

No, it is not. That includes where you need to be hardware card wise, and rls, and bus.

It's likely hardware charges as well. We upgraded from 3.0 to 5.0 at the end of 2007. I believe 5.0 had just become GA at the time, and I really didn't want to go to it until they worked out the bugs, but I was told there were some differences in the hardware from 4.5 to 5.0. Since we only wanted to eat the hardware cost once, we upgraded to 5.0 (and now 5.5).

your vendor needs to address that.. 180 is very high for software only. i wouldn't suggest signing off on any upgrade without a complete material list. vendors don't usually give you line item pricing but a material list is not an out of line request..

line item usually leads to end users shopping your price

We already have a FIJI network, so It's replacing the Motorola processors?

So would these be Pentium processors and Linux software?

Yes, you would swap out the CPU card cages and install the new card cages. Then your Motorola processors would be replaced with PIV processors. Your CNI cards will be replaced with the newer ones.

We are upgrading 2 81C from Succ 3.0 to 5.5 and they are both around $180 for hardware, software and labor.
