A friend if mine just upgraded to XP from ME. He had office XP before. Now when he starts his computer it tries to install office and gives the message that it is missing proplus.msi. I have read about it and have tried some suggested solutions but haven't gotten anywhere. The funny thing is if I select cancel it is OK. like if I try to open word and select cancel when it tries to install, word opens right up and works fine.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I think proplus.msi is the Excel part of office. Maybe a reinstall would cure it?

Penny :)

Has he reinstalled Office XP? This file is part of that CD installation and probably is still being referenced in the registry after the upgrade.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

Well, his problem is he can't find the CD to reinstall it. So it sounds like I just need to find that file. I have an office cd at work. I guess maybe just taking it off of that would work?

Either that or remove the reference from the registry.

Do you know how to remove the reference from the registry?
