Hi ,
I have prompt in the report. when i run it i see the all the list of values for that prompt(SAy the prompt is "BOOK') along with the value 'ALL', right now user can select 'ALL' and couple other books in this case the report runs for all books but in the prompt it shows as 'ALL,BOOK1,BOOK2'.
Instead of this what i want is when the user selects 'ALL' all the books should be checked and in the prompt i should see just 'ALL'
if unchecks any thing then 'ALL' should be checked off and the prompt should show the list of selected books.

I hope i made my question clear.

thank you,

How are the values in the propmpt (I assume you mean parameter) created and passed to the parameter list ?

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

when i was creating a query i dragged the column into filters area and checked the 'parameter'option.
that way it's parameter. but i donot have the control on the list of values that should appear in that list.

Yes you do

You can create a data set for any parameter by choosing "List Of Values" in the parameter properties.

Best way to do this would be to create a dataset to populate the list of values for the parameter and UNION that with an (All) / * option to create your list

If I read this right your report parameter is multi-valued and you want to carry out some processing to ensure that when you check a particular list value (in this case 'All'), this action then causes all the other values in the list to also be checked. If this is so then I'm not sure if what you require is possible using just one parameter.
