Prompting user to accept licence agreement on every file opend.

I have users accessing their word/excel etc. documents straight from the file server and everytime they open a new file it asks them to re accept the licence agreement for microsoft office. The users are finding this quite annoying and I am unsure how to solve this issue. I would appreciate any thoughts or assistance anyone can give.

Are they just accessing a network drive with all of the documents on it? Ei: I:\Files\MyDocument.doc?

Some other things to consider:

1) Is Office installed on each machine or are they using a telnet to open office off of the server?

2) Is office installed on the server itself?

3) Do the profiles of users have the same information contained in them as the Administrator who set them up. Becuause the NTUSER.DAT may be causing problems with the users because it is not the same as the Administrator or whoever set the machine up. Office would be licensed to the administrator user, but may not be licensed to the users themselves, therefore causing that message to occur every time they open a file.

4) What version of Office is being used and what Operating system is used?

Post back with a bit more information.

1) no they are not using telnet. they are users authenticating to a domain and then they use files off of the file server.

2) no office isnt installed on the server and shouldnt need to be installed there.

3)I agree but currently there are no roaming profiles set. but it should be licensed to the machine and not that particular user. because office was installed before the machine was connected to the domain.

Are the users opening the files straight off of the server, or are they saving them to their machine first? If they are opening the files straight off the server I would try just installing Office on to it and see if it makes a difference. As well is Office 2003 registered properly? I know with Office 2003, like windows XP it needs to be registered, otherwise after 50 launches, it will restrict the user functionality with the program. I recommend though installing office onto the server and trying that first. And if it doesn't work, you've only wasted like 5 mins. Good luck.

Yea its activated. and they are opening the files straight off the server. I shouldnt have to have office installed on the server for it to work tho.

Try it though and see what happens? What happens when the users copy the file off the server to their local machine and then open the file, do they still get the authentication message?

Licence agreement message. I dont wana have to buy a new copy of it to test that. but we will see.
