Prompting user for data not in database & having it show in the report 2

I'm not sure if this is even possible, but at my corporation we have a label which is system generated from a Crystal 10 report. All the data in the Report is from our operations Database.

Our sales Database is a completely different program not linked to this one and not linked to Crystal. On many products we need to include the Customer PO number which is in the Sales Database. I cannot pull this data so I want to set something up where Crystal will ask for a Customer PO number and the number the employee enters will populate onto the report in the section we need it to.

Can someone help me with this?

Sincerely,
Angie Christman

Yes, this is possible but you should first make absolutely sure that you indeed have no access to the 2nd data source. Crystal can connect to multiple data sources...

There is at least one User Function Library (UFL) among those listed at that adds an InputBox() function to Crystal for exactly this type of situation.

- Ido

view, email, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

I have checked and there isn't a way for us to connect the two.

I went to the page you listed and I'm not positive on which I should choose.

Is this what I am looking for?
How to pass a DataSet from the application to the report

If all you want is to show a Free Text PO Number just add a Dtring Parameter to report, place in header.

It will not affect data returned and will just display on the report.

The parameter approach would work if the report contains a single PO. Please cdlarify, do you need to enter multiple PO's for different records/sections?

I will only need to enter on PO.

Does the Dtring have to be in the Report header?
