Hello All
In Cognos, when we create a prompt,Is there a way in a pull down list we can type in the value so that it comes up rather than we pulling it down and choosing a value .Say if we have 500 values ,can the user type in the value in the prompt rather than go through the list of 500 and chose a value.any insights.
thanks in advance

Neil,

There is no Combo Box functionality within either Impromptu or Cognos macros. You would have to do this by combining the functionality of a normal type-in prompt with a picklist. Check to see whether the user entered text in the type-in prompt. If so use it, rather than the Picklist. See the Impromptu FAQ here for more info, under the heading Conditional Filters.

If the prompt is in a drop-down box, using the "IN" parameter in the filter, and the values are text, you can click in the prompt and type the first letter. The prompt will then jump to the beginning of values starting with that letter.

I accept to what you say but it again is just for the first letter. That wouldnt be of much use for the kind of data i am using.
