Can Promotion be assigned to work with modifiers and if so how?
Background: We have over 1200 PLU numbers with a different menu daily which consist of approx 400 items. In order to help the cashier know where the keys are and not be subject to a managers creative placement on the submenu page, we have made some PLU be what we call level keys, for example..a PLU of 23101 is fried chicken with no price associated. When you click on it you go to the modifier page which has all of our fried chicken items on it. These items do have the price and are combined with the level's key zero price to give the customer the price.
This procedure works fine until you try to do something like run a promotion. If it is an individual promotion on say Cherry Pie then I simply have them add the cherry pie to the submenu page for the duration of the promotion.
However, when I have something like BOGO half off Entree which could include any of our hundreds of Entrees then the Key does not work. It always come back with a zero price (half of the level key) instead of half of the actual item
I have had to simply take away our level keys for entree's on the submenu for the areas that are running these promotions, but this defeats the purpose of having the level keys in the first place and makes confusion for the cashiers.
ANY IDEAS. On the promotions or a better way to set up the leveling. Currently we have about 70 leveling keys so putting them all on their own submenu really isn't an option.
Thanks.
