I am in the process of turning 3 Proliant 1600 in to 1 super server.

I want to make it dual processor, fill all the ram slots. I need to have 2 Compaq drives in the hot swappable bay and also have 2 new drives in the scsi slot aswell as a cd drive and a dat drive.

I have put 2 processors in to one of them and powered the machine up. I get lights on the motherboard and all the fans kick in but I don't get the compaq screen up and nothing happens.

Any ideas ?? Please help as this is for a major project I have been given.

Thanks

I would suggest removing the second processor and seeing if it will boot then. If it does, processor problem. I presume the second processor is exactly the same as the existing processor? I can't remember whether there are any jumpers that need to be configured?? -----------------------------------------------------

As said before, it's probably the processor. I'm not quiet sure if it's the same principle as on a PL2500, but on my PL2500 I didn't have to set up jumpers, only plugin my second CPU and PPM and it worked... I even don't know for sure whether the PL1600 works with PPM's or not (like my PL2500).

Regards.

Did you also plug the power module into the 2nd socket. Just putting in the processor won't work without that 2nd small circuit board.
