My MSProject98 file won't open in other computers other than the one the file was created on.

I had tried using Save As.. to A:\ in an attempt to transfer but to no avail.

The error message is:
The instructon at "0x3009270b" referenced memory at "0x0000000". the memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the application
Click on CANCEL to debug the application.

Clicking on OK will result in the following message:
Cannot find the file "XXXXX.MPP" (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all libraries are available.

I am sure that the installations on both machines are exactly similar.

What you appear to be saying is 'My MSProject98 file won't open in ONE other computer other than the one the file was created on.'

I would use the Microsoft solution and reinstall project on the other PC if you don't have a 3rd machine to try

I encountered this problem with Project98 running on W2K. Apparently, when tech services upgraded my laptop to W2K from NT 4.0 Svpk 3; they forgot to update the project software. Project98 has problems with W2K and Office 2000. This problems forced my internal PMO and several of our external clients and partners to standardize on Project 2000 because we had problems reading each other's Project Plans.

The solutions are as follows:

OS Win98SE, NT 4.0 Svpk 3 or lower
-uninstall Project 98
-reinstall with latest Project 98 version
-install patch from Microsoft

or

W2K, WinME, WinXP, Win NT 4.0 Svpk 4 or higher
-uninstall Project 98
-install Project 2000 on all your systems
-install latestest patch from Microsoft
-advise all users to upgrade to latest version or save
as a Project 98 file (using "Save As")

or

Win98 (1st Edition)
-uninstall Project 98
-uninstall all other MS applications (esp Office, Access & Visio)
-reinstall Project 98
-do not install any patches
-do not install any other applications (keep the ODBC and common files the same)
-use this as a dedicated Project98 machine (ie. standalone)

Hope this helps,

Regards,
