Programming Paging Zones 1

Easy question: How do you program the paging zones for a NORSTAR MICS system? We currently only page to ALL. I can only find one page output on the 66 block. How do you program the different zones?

you need a paging controller - which can split the zones
depending on teh code dialed feature 610 or feature 611 etc, the norstar sends a contact closure/ release signal

In Capabilities programming, each set gets configured to a page zone. Then when paging you dial Feature 61 plus the zone number..

in the phone capabilities you get options to program the zones 1 thru 6
and then you page using feature 61+zone

I think you were both correct. /there is only one page zone on the 66 block for speakers, and for that you need a page controler to zone. Though you can change the internal zones by following BAgs instructions, which will only affect the phones themselves, and not your overhead speaker.

If you have extra (junk?) phones you can:
Program phone to be in a seperate page zone (2?) and tap into the phone speaker to drive a paging amp. We use this on several sites (with up to 6 zones) and it works remarkably well.

also the easiest way to grab off the speaker is to use the headset jack in the back of the phone. make sure handsfree is programmed on the phone.
