Programming Magix DID #'s for Fax Server 3

Customer has Magix w/CKE5 Processor-(1) 412 TDL, (4) 016 ETR Cards for majority of Partner Sets, (2) 100 DCD Cards and Merlin Messaging. Converting T1's to PRI's with DID service. Wants each individual to have a new DID # and 2nd DID # as their fax. An incoming fax notification should appear in their e-mail messages. Separate vendor will set up fax server. What do I need to do in the Magix to get these DID #'s set up for the fax server. I have 2 POTS Lines in the Switch that will be for the fax server.

What model fax server? search around the forum a little. we did it with a multitech and it worked.

If the faxserver will be using an analog interface, most of your answers can be found in this post.

What's the thinking behind the two POTS lines? You can easily arrange for both in and outbound faxes to use the PRI service.

Using MultiTech FF230 2 port Fax Server. Am Aware that I need 2 sta ports. Should I assign DID #'s for each fax sta port? I am not sure why I have the 2 pots lines other than the customer was expecting to use these 2 for incoming faxes.

Who would be using the POTS lines for incoming faxes, if the users all have a DID number assigned for faxes? Does that make any sense?

As far as assigning DID numbers to the fax server station ports, that would depend on your configuration. Essentially, all fax traffic, DID or otherwise, would be destined for the station ports connected to the fax server. How else would it get there?

You might want to review what the system is doing to make sure it will perform to the clients requirements.

Set it up as a hunt group just like you would voicemail with a few modifications. So, say you use group 771. Add your analog ports from the Magix to group 771, linear, I believe auto login (whichever keeps it logged in by default). Then, add coverage group 20 to 771 (as long as you aren't using coverage group 20 for anything else). Assign the fax extensions (which can and should be set-up as adjunct/phantom extensions) to coverage group 20. Now when they are called they cover over to the group 771 which rings into the fax finder with the appropriate digits presented to route the fax.

The POTS Lines are usually used for OUTGOING FAXES.

Therefore, you should put them in a separate pool.

I have a shortage of adjunct ports to assign the fax DID #'s to. The ETR modules do not hav extra adjunct ports. What would I do to program about 30 FAX DID #'s into the Magix so that I can program them for the fax server cover group?

Use the boards command in WinSPM to add a phantom board, thus you can add extension numbers. However, you must document what you did, as later on, adding another board will wipe out your programming.

Or, you can use calling groups that overflow to the fax server's calling group.

Merlin Messaging is seen as an 012 board, but you probably don't have all the ports licensed as VM ports. Use the others for your phantoms.
