Hello World!

We just switched over from ATT to Cbeyond and none of our extensions work anymore. They told us that each of our extensions has it own land line number, is it possible that I can program the extensions to dial that number? I could not find anything in the manual about this. So basically I want to assign the extension of 12 to 555-555-5555. So when someone in the office dials 12 it goes to that number, the only thing I am concerned with however, is that this may type of the phone line as it is actually dialing out a number and not a true extension dial.

Any help would be appreciated.

What your asking to do is DID. Direct Extension Dial programming. Not sure what you mean extensions don't work anymore...Do you mean they are completely dead with no lights or they cannot call out or they cannot receive calls? Can you be more specific? You probley need an Avaya tech to service you guys. I located in L.A. California =)

Yea basically the extensions no longer work. They can receive calls, but we cannot do any internal transfers.

Which phone system do you have? If its a partner what happens when you press the transfer button? Does the line flash as if its on hold? Can you intercom your extensions?

When we attempt to transfer extensions nothing happnes. Also when do Feature 14 then the extension number to transfer to someones voicemail nothing happens either.

Does cbeyond need to adjust their service to our PBX?

I can't imagine how your outside lines could cause your problems with Intercom calling and Transfer to Voice Mail (Feature 14).

Have you done something like assign your extensions to Hunt Group 7 (#505-7-XX-1)?

No nothing like that at all. Every since Cbeyond came and switched our service intercom and transfer 2 voicemail have not been working.

Thank you guys for the help, I do not understand how their service would break our internal calling.

You may have lost the programming in the phone system. Some of the older Partner systems lose their programming when they are powered off. If that is the case, your buttons are no longer programmed, and your voice mail won't work. You can try to manually restore the programming with #125. In your documentation, the feature is called "System Settings Restore." If it is a newer system, a tech can remotely dial into it and check the diagnostics to see what happened and if the programming is intact. This would save you the cost of a service call.

Sometimes the service provider uses a term, such as extension, but they are not referring to Partner's definition of an extension. They are not familiar with your phone system, and this causes confusion to the user. You need someone familiar with the system to talk with the service provider to determine what service you actually have now.

You also may now have trunks that are incompatible with Partner, or you may need to purchase the correct module to work with their service. It appears that you need a Partner tech to help you with all of this.

First why would you want people in your office to dial anything other then the 2 digit extension number?? same for fea 14 VMT that also will go to a 2 digit #
Outside calls to 555-5555 to get to a specific ext would have to come in via a T-1 and be mapped as such for DID service
I hope I'm reading your question correctly

First, it would be good to know what Partner system you have there. So go to any display phone and press Feature 59. The display will show what version your system is, then post back with that information so we may provide more help.

Also, what happens if you press Intercom and a 2-digit number? Does the phone you called ring? For Voice Mail, what happens if you press Intercom and 777?

....JIM....
