Programming a PRI with IFC NI2 and TKTP TIE 2

Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of changing out an Option 21E to an Option 11C running Succession 3.0 software. I've done about 15 of these in the last month and this is the first major snag I've hit.

In the 21E the DCH and RDB were programmed with IFC NI2. The TKTP of the RDB is TIE, as is the TYPE for the associated trunks. When I try to configure the Option 11C in the same manner, I encounter a few problems. The DCH is programmed the same as it was. In the RDB, when I hit prompt IFC and enter NI2 it comes back with CBCR (Service Route Indicator), to which I must say YES. Then it asks for RTN (The number of the ISA master Route), which I do not have configured, as the old PBX didn't have one.

How can I make the Option 11C work like the Option 21E?

Here is the DCH, RDB, and a trunk from the 21E:

Code:
ADAN DCH 6

I was wondering if it would still work to just configure the trunks and route as DID instead of TIE?

The other problem is, I can't exactly test the functionality of a config because the Option 11C is sitting in a Lab in a different state.

Thanks in advance!

Arch

i went back to my lab and built a d channel on a msdl in an option to mirror your d in the 21. i pointed it to a card slot that is not configured yet. it went in very clean, no errors. try outing your trunks and rdb and putting the d channel in 1st...

I think the problem happens with higher RLS software. I tried to build it in my Opt11c RLS23 and I get the same problem. My normal ones are built as NI2 and DID trunks don't know why it don't like TIE.

good call, the opt 11 in my lab is rls 16, i have the upgrade here but haven't installed it. 2way did will work the same as tie in the older rls. a few rls's back did iao was outgoing only. the switch i learned on was rls 4. guess i'm getting old. didn't know there was still opt 21's in the field.

John,

I built the DCH first. The problem is getting the RDB built after that. Are we sure that DID will work? If so, I'll just program everything that way.

There are quite a few 21s out there, it's my job to turn them into Option 11's :)

Thanks for the pointers.

Mine is programmed as DID PRI with NI2 protocol and I have no problems.

theirs a lot of 11's out there, my job is to turn them into 81's

Well, if you ever want to move that process along a little quicker, let me know. :)

We can make turn just about any Nortel PBX into just about any other Nortel PBX with very little time involved. Gotta love computer automation!

i try to never to install anything smaller then a thousand stations, i leave the opt 11's for my kids. i just put 1300 users in a mer mail in 3 hours, and i have scripts that take rolm or 21 data base and put it back in a 81..

John, can you shoot me an email at mjg at infoplusonline dot com? I'm interested in making mass changes to Mermail and was hoping we could compare notes.

Thanks,
Arch

When you set your route up as DID be sure to have a LDN programmed for the number of digits to be used.
